We live in an age where technology has become accessible to the masses. But just because computers and tablets are cheaper doesn’t mean they are not an expense. Between the upkeep, costs for Wi-Fi, software, toner purchases, and troubleshooting, the frustrations can add up quick. Why not let your local library worry about all that?
The West Warwick Public Library offers over 30 computers with internet access and software to assist our patrons. Whether you need to read some emails, print out your resume, or just want to kill some time watching videos on YouTube, hopping on a computer and logging in is as easy as signing up for a library card. Speaking of which, you’ll need a library card to use our technology so be sure to bring yours or sign up for one at our Circulation Desk. You can also sign up for a library card online by clicking here. You’ll get a FREE, uninterrupted 160 minute session per day with the chance to add more time if the library is not busy.
Located on our second floor, the Reference Department offers 8 computers in our open floor study area and another 12 computers in our tech lab. We offer all the office basics: printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Printing can be done from any public computer for $0.20 per black and white page printed, or $0.50 per color page printed. We have a self-serve scanner that any patron may use for FREE. Copying is also self-serve and shares the same prices listed for printing ($0.20 per black and white page copied and $0.50 per color page copied). Faxing can be done for you by our staff and is priced at $1.00 per page faxed.
For children and teens, 7 computers are located in the Youth Department and 3 iMac desktops are located in our Maker Space area. These have all the software for kids and teens to get school work done and print their work. When they aren’t finishing homework, kids and teens can use these computers to play all the most popular video games or install a new one. The Youth Department also features 2 computer kiosks dedicated to the ABC Mouse virtual classroom. An amazing digital adventure, young children are encouraged to use these computers.
